Vanilla Bean Cold Foam Over Cold Brew

I heart coffee. Like a lot. I drink decaf because I’m one of those lucky few that gets zero every from caffeine… and I do mean ZERO. When I first started drinking real coffee in college, I thought people were grossly exaggerating the effects that caffeine had on them. It wasn’t until a few months later that I realized it was me, and I swapped to decaf. Drinking decaf allows me to enjoy the flavor of coffee without creating a caffeine habit with literally no benefits. Because I drink decaf, I make my coffee at home a good bit of the time. I do love a good coffee house blend though, and sometimes they come up with wonderful concoctions to add to your coffee that really kicks it up a notch. Enter this vanilla bean cold foam. Made with four simple ingredients that you more than likely already have in your house, it comes together in a few short minutes and tastes coffee-house good. All the perks of your local coffee shop from the convenience of your home: now that’s a win.

    Glass with Coffee and Cream

    Vanilla Bean Cold Foam

What you’ll need to make this vanilla bean cold foam:

    Heavy Cream

    Half and Half

    Granulated Sugar

Vanilla Bean Paste (I use Rodelle and love it)

    Your Favorite Coffee

    Vanilla Bean Cold Foam

    Whipping it all Up

Coffee puns aside (get it… whipping the cream), this easy cold foam is sweet, packed with vanilla bean flavor, and tops your favorite coffee with ease.

Simply place all ingredients into a small bowl, and whisk or froth for about one minute or until frothy and slightly thickened. It should be the consistently of melted whipped cream. Top iced or hot coffee, and enjoy! Separation is natural so if it’s sits for a bit before use, simply whisk it for a few seconds.

You can mix this up in advance and store it in the fridge covered in a jar, but only whip / froth the amount that you plan to use on your coffee that day. This way you get fresh foam each time!

    Dietary Substitutions

Silk Dairy Free Heavy Cream and Silk Dairy Free Half and Half are both great options for a dairy free cold foam. You can also use a sugar substitute and add small amounts to taste until it suits your likeness.

I hope you love this quick and easy coffee shop hack! If you love Vanilla Bean, try my Vanilla Bean Creme Brûlée!

    • 1 ½ Tablespoons Granulated Sugar
    • ½ Teaspoon Vanilla Bean Paste
