Equipment

  • Food safe serving board
  • Two small bowls
  • Two spoons

Ingredients

  • 3-5 Apples (any kind)
  • 5 Lemons for juicing
  • Caramel sauce (homemade or store bought)
  • 1 ½ cups Mini chocolate chips (dividend)

Instructions

  • Begin by making the caramel sauces. (See blog for links to my two easy homemade caramel sauces, one features browned butter!). Allow them to cool slightly. You will serve them warm with the apples.
  • Cut and juice the lemons into a shallow bowl. Slice your apples, and dip each apple into the lemon juice, coating them completely. Pay dry with a clean hand towel or a paper towel. Set these aside.
  • Melt ¾ cup of mini chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl on high for 60 seconds. Be cautious when you remove the bowl as it could be hot. Stir the chocolate chips, and keep microwaving in 30 second increments on high until the chocolate is smooth and lump free.
  • Play some chocolate and a small squeeze bottle for a piping bag with the tip cut off. Arrange the apples on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Drizzle the chocolate over the apple slices, all of them or just some of them, it’s up to you! Place the apples in the freezer for five minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
  • It’s time to put your board together. Fill each of the two small bowls with the caramel sauce, and add little spoons. Arrange the apple slices on your board, with the bowls of caramel, and fill in any holes with little scoops of mini chocolate chips. Add any garnish and serve immediately. Enjoy!
