Spiced Gingerbread Waffles

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cup all purpose flour  1 tablespoon baking powder  ¼ cup granulated sugar  ½ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon  ½ teaspoon nutmeg  ¼ teaspoon cloves  ¼ teaspoon ginger  2 Teaspoon vanilla extract  2 large eggs  ½ cup salted butter, melted  1 ¾ cups whole milk 

Instructions

  • Directions: heat waffle iron. 
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and spices in a medium bowl. 
  • Add eggs, melted butter, milk, and vanilla, and stir until combined. 
  • Butter or spray hot iron.
  • Using a measuring cup, spoon batter onto iron and cook until golden brown, repeating with remainder of batter. 
  • Top with butter, syrup, and powdered sugar. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Notes: I have an Oster brand waffle iron that I use most of the time.  My iron takes about ¾ cup of batter per waffle and I cook each waffle 4- 4 ½ minutes. 
  • This little mini gingerbread waffle iron takes ¼ cup batter. I cooked these waffles for about 3 minutes each. 
  • This recipe is easily made gluten and / or dairy free. Simply sub a 1:1 gluten free flour for the all purpose, and vegan butter + non-dairy milk for regular butter and milk.
