This (literal) easy peasy lemon squeezy drink is so refreshing and so quick to make! Three simple ingredients is all you need to enjoy this sweet and simple lemonade. It’s the perfect summer drink at home.

    Sweet and simple lemonade.

Lemonade is summertime staple. The cold, sweet + tart, and totally refreshing drink is easy and quick with only three simple ingredients needed. Sweet and simple lemonade can be in your fridge and yours to enjoy in under an hour.

    Lemons and a citrus juicer.
    Juicing lemons.

What you will need to make this sweet and simple lemonade:

    Water

    Granulated sugar

    Fresh squeezed lemonade

    Glass of lemonade.
    Bowl of sliced lemons.

    The Process

You will start by combining the one and a half cups water with the granulated sugar in a small saucepan on the stove. You are reducing the sugar to create a simple syrup, and this is the base that sweetens your lemonade. I have played with these ratios and feel that this specific combination yields the perfect balance of sweet and tart! However, if you like things a little less sweet, you can absolutely lower the sweetness a bit. I would try it as is to get a feel for the recipe, and then take it down the following time if you like it more on the tart side. You can always add more lemon juice + water at the end to increase tartness and mute the sweetness a bit. This is a good option for when the simple syrup has already been made and combined with the last two ingredients.

After the sugar dissolves into the water, remove it from the heat. Stir in the lemon juice and additional cold water, and then refrigerate for 30-60 minutes. You want the lemonade chilled as much as possible so that the addition of ice doesn’t dilute the flavor. At this point, you can add more lemon juice and water if you feel it needs a bit more tartness, or just some water to take the overall sweet and tart down a bit. I love adding fresh crushed strawberries or raspberries to this drink as well. I am penning a sparkling blackberry lemonade as we speak, so stay tuned for that this summer!
